Woday Privacy Policy
Woday (“the app”, “we”) is a task, note and calendar planner for macOS, made by Solt Wagner. This policy explains what information Woday handles, where it lives, and what leaves your Mac.
The short version
Your content stays on your device, we run no accounts and no analytics, and the only network traffic the app makes is for licensing, software updates, optional iCloud sync and downloading built-in artwork.
What Woday Is
Woday is a life planner that combines to-dos, notes and a calendar in one macOS app. Everything you write — tasks, notes, events, tags, folders — is yours and is stored on your Mac.
Local-First by Design
Woday works without any account. There is no sign-up, no login, no server of ours holding your content. Your data is stored in a local database on your Mac. We do not collect analytics, telemetry, usage statistics or crash reports.
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Tasks and subtasks, including titles, notes, due dates, reminders, priorities and completion history
Notes and their content, including text, images you insert, covers and icons
Calendar events you create in Woday
Tags, folders, habit schedules and streaks
App settings and preferences (theme, shortcuts, layout choices)
Your license key and its activation details, stored in the app’s preferences
Custom icons you upload, stored in the app’s local support folder
Deleted items go to Woday’s own Trash first, where you can restore them or remove them permanently.
Optional iCloud Sync
If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, your Woday data syncs through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. That data is stored in your private iCloud database — we have no access to it, and it is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your iCloud settings. With sync off, everything remains solely on your Mac.
Apple Calendar and Reminders
With your explicit permission, Woday can display events from Apple Calendar and reminders from Apple Reminders alongside your own items. This access is read-only, with one exception: ticking off an Apple Reminder in Woday completes it in the Reminders app. This data is read through Apple’s frameworks on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.
Notifications
Reminders and the daily briefing use local notifications, scheduled and delivered entirely on your Mac. No notification content leaves your device.
Built-in Artwork
When you browse the icon and cover galleries, Woday downloads that artwork from our content server over HTTPS. These are plain image downloads: no personal data is sent beyond what any web request carries (such as your IP address, which may appear in standard server logs). Downloaded images are cached locally so repeat visits don’t need the network.
Payment and License Information
Woday is sold outside the Mac App Store. Purchases and payment processing are handled by Polar.sh, our merchant of record — we never see or store your payment card details. Their handling of your data is described in the Polar privacy policy.
To activate and keep your license valid, the app sends your license key and your Mac’s device name to Polar when you activate, deactivate or when the app periodically re-validates the license. This is the only identifying information the licensing system transmits.
Software Updates
Woday checks for updates using the Sparkle framework against our update feed (hosted by Amore). An update check is a standard web request that includes the app version and may include your macOS version; your IP address may appear in server logs. No personal content is ever included. You can trigger checks manually, and updates install only with your consent through the standard update window.
Data We Do Not Collect
Your tasks, notes, events or any other content
Analytics, telemetry or usage tracking of any kind
Crash reports
Accounts, emails or passwords (we have none)
Location data
Data Retention
Your data stays on your Mac until you delete it. Items you delete move to Woday’s Trash until you restore or permanently remove them. If you uninstall Woday, you can remove all remaining data by deleting the app’s container folder in your user Library. iCloud-synced data can be removed through your iCloud settings.
Your Controls
Turn iCloud sync on or off in Settings ▸ Sync
Grant or revoke Calendar and Reminders access in System Settings
Control every notification type in Settings ▸ Notifications
Deactivate your license on a device in Settings ▸ License
Delete any content permanently through the Trash
Security
Your data is stored within Woday’s sandboxed app container, protected by macOS’s standard protections. As with any local data, its security also depends on the security of your Mac — we recommend FileVault and a strong login password. No method of storage is guaranteed absolutely secure.
Third-Party Services
Polar.sh — payments and license validation
Amore — hosting of the update feed and app downloads
Apple (iCloud/CloudKit, EventKit, UserNotifications) — optional sync, calendar/reminders access and notifications, under Apple’s privacy policy
Our content server for built-in icons and covers
Woday contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Children’s Privacy
Woday is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Users
Because your content is stored locally on your device, it does not cross borders through us. Licensing and payment data is processed by Polar.sh in accordance with their policy.
Legal Requirements
We hold essentially no user data, so there is little we could disclose. Should we ever be legally compelled to disclose the limited licensing records that exist, we would do so only to the extent required by law.
